Service & Support Specialist - Construction Equipment

The Greer Group, Inc.
High Point, NC Full Time
POSTED ON 10/29/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 11/27/2026

The Greer Group has an excellent direct-hire opportunity for an Heavy Equipment Service Coordinator to join the team of a growing international manufacturer of innovative construction equipment in High Point, NC.

We're looking for someone with experience in heavy equipment, construction machinery, automotive equipment, hydraulics, or mechanical systems who enjoys troubleshooting equipment issues, helping customers and dealers, and coordinating service and repairs.

This is not an IT help desk or computer technical support position. The focus is on mechanical equipment, diagnosing equipment-related issues, coordinating technicians and service partners, and ensuring service requests are handled through resolution.

Candidates with backgrounds in equipment dealerships, heavy equipment rental companies, machinery manufacturers, automotive equipment suppliers, or field service departments are encouraged to apply.

What You'll Do:

Customer & Dealer Service

  • Serve as a primary contact for customers and dealers with equipment-related service questions and concerns.
  • Provide first-line troubleshooting for mechanical, hydraulic, and equipment-related issues over the phone.
  • Gather information to help identify problems, determine next steps, and escalate complex issues when needed.
  • Keep customers informed and coordinate communication among dealers, technicians, service partners, and internal teams.

Service Coordination

  • Schedule and coordinate work for internal service personnel and approved outside service partners.
  • Assign service calls based on urgency, location, technical requirements, availability, and customer commitments.
  • Ensure technicians have the necessary information, parts, and work instructions before beginning a job.
  • Monitor service progress, follow up on delays, and help ensure timely completion of service requests.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with the company's external service network.

Equipment & Aftermarket Support

  • Assist customers, dealers, and technicians with equipment installation, maintenance, repair, and operating questions.
  • Coordinate parts requests, returns, and warranty cases related to service work.
  • Document equipment issues and communicate recurring problems and field feedback to engineering, product, and quality teams.
  • Help maintain equipment service documentation, troubleshooting guidance, and training materials.

Administrative & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate service records, work orders, customer communications, and case documentation.
  • Track open service requests, response times, completion status, and service quality.
  • Ensure documentation is complete for warranty processing, invoicing, and internal follow-up.
  • Identify opportunities to improve service processes, response times, and the customer experience while following company procedures and applicable safety requirements.

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training or an associate degree is a plus.
  • At least 2 years of experience in equipment service, mechanical troubleshooting, field service coordination, or a related equipment-focused role.
  • Experience with construction equipment, heavy machinery, automotive equipment, hydraulics, or mechanical systems is strongly preferred.
  • General understanding of hydraulic systems, mechanical components, and equipment operation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to gather information and determine appropriate next steps.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, including the ability to explain equipment-related issues clearly.
  • Strong organization and follow-through, with the ability to manage multiple service requests at once.
  • Ability to coordinate technicians and outside service partners without directly supervising them.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with CRM, ERP, or service-management systems.

Preferred Experience

Candidates with any of the following experience will receive additional consideration:

  • Construction equipment, excavators, tiltrotators, or other heavy machinery
  • Hydraulic systems and components
  • Reading hydraulic or electrical drawings
  • Service scheduling and work-order coordination
  • Warranty administration and parts coordination
  • Service reporting and performance tracking
  • Bilingual English/Spanish or English/French communication skills

Why This Is a Great Opportunity

This is an opportunity to combine mechanical knowledge, customer relationships, and service coordination in a role with a growing international equipment manufacturer. You'll work with customers, dealers, technicians, and service partners to solve equipment problems, coordinate service, and help keep customers up and running.

If you enjoy understanding how equipment works, solving problems, and helping customers get the service they need, we'd love to hear from you!
