The Greene School (TGS) is a public charter high school located in West Greenwich, Rhode Island, serving approximately 200 students in grades 9–12. Our students come from the entire state of RI - including urban, rural and suburban areas. We are rooted in EL Education (Expeditionary Learning model) and grounded in a commitment to environmental education, student agency, and authentic learning experiences for students from diverse cultures and backgrounds. TGS has recently received state approval to expand to a 6–12 configuration, adding a middle school program that will deepen our continuum of learning and strengthen our community. This is an exciting moment in our school's history and an equally exciting time to join our community. The Opportunity The Greene School seeks a creative, organized, and mission-driven Community Engagement Coordinator to serve as a critical connector between our school, its students, and the broader community. This is a newly defined role designed to strengthen the partnerships, programs, and community presence that make TGS distinctive. The Coordinator will report directly to the Head of School and work across departments to support our expedition-based learning model and school-wide culture. Key Responsibilities Nutrition Program Oversight Supervise day-to-day operations of the school's nutrition program, ensuring compliance with federal and state guidelines and alignment with TGS's environmental and wellness values. Manage vendor relationships, menus, and program logistics in coordination with staff and leadership. Communicate proactively with families about nutrition offerings, updates, and any program changes. Identify opportunities to integrate food, agriculture, and sustainability themes into the student experience. Learning Expedition Partnerships Build and maintain community and organizational partnerships that support TGS's expeditionary learning model, including field-based learning, expert connections, and service opportunities. Research and cultivate relationships with environmental organizations, nonprofits, government agencies, higher education institutions, and local businesses aligned with expedition themes. Coordinate the logistics of partnership agreements, site visits, and related engagements. Collaborate with teachers to identify partnership needs tied to annual expedition calendars and ensure high-quality, authentic learning experiences for students. Track and document partnership activity to support grant reporting and school communications. Student Recruitment and Outreach Represent TGS at middle school and high school recruitment fairs, open houses, and community information sessions across Rhode Island. Develop and maintain relationships with middle school guidance counselors, families, and community organizations to build awareness of The Greene School. Support the creation of recruitment materials that reflect TGS's expeditionary learning model and statewide accessibility. Event Planning and Coordination Plan, coordinate, and execute school-wide events including community gatherings, student exhibitions of learning, family engagement nights, and recruitment events. Serve as the logistics lead for annual events such as commencement, 401Gives, and school anniversary celebrations. Develop and maintain event timelines, budgets, vendor contacts, and communication plans. Coordinate with staff, students, families, and board members to ensure events reflect TGS's culture and values. Evaluate events for impact and continuously improve the school's community engagement practices. Additional Responsibilities Support school-wide communications related to community programs, events, and partnerships. Represent TGS at community events, partner convenings, and public-facing engagements. Contribute to a positive, inclusive school climate consistent with TGS's EL Education commitments. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
