What are the responsibilities and job description for the After School Dance Instructor position at The Greater Ridgewood Youth Council, inc?
Seeking a Dance Instructor who can plan and lead age-appropriate dance lessons that introduce students to various dance styles (e.g., hip-hop, jazz, ballet, cultural/folk dance, or creative movement). The ideal candidate brings energy, patience, and a love for working with children while fostering a positive, inclusive, and engaging environment.
Below are the responsibilities & expectations:
- Draw up, plan & implement engaging lesson plans with clear learning objectives pertaining to Dance
- Plan and facilitate fun, engaging dance lessons for elementary-aged students (K-5th)
- Incorporate warm-ups, technique, choreography, and creative expression; teach basic skills of stage presence & movement
- Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where all students can express themselves
- Develop and direct showcases as part of the program curriculum when we see fit
- Manage classroom behavior and ensure student engagement and participation
- Collaborate with program staff to align theater activities with program goals
- Uphold the programs standards & protocols
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $19.50 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 3 per week
Work Location: In person
