POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Kitchen Manager, the Food Program Assistant will assist with the implementation of the Greater Kingsport Family YMCA food programs at our Brighter Horizons kitchen in Rogersville. The Food Program Assistant will foster a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined while also managing and implementing food service within the community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for food kitchen organization, operation, sanitation, and ensuring compliance with all Department of Health guidelines and requirements.
- Assists with food prep, packing, loading, unloading, and cleaning and driving the delivery route as needed.
- Maintain accurate food and milk inventory records in accordance with USDA standards.
- Oversee food program compliance with vehicle maintenance and cleaning requirements in coordination with YMCA Property Manager. Monitor daily vehicle mileage logs for accuracy and completion.
- Assist with food delivery as needed.
- Assist in grant implementation and tracking, as needed including monthly meal reimbursement submissions and any other reports required.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with site program participants and liaisons.
- Coordinate and schedule site and program volunteers.
- Attend all staff meetings and trainings.
- Report any problems, issues, or departmental concerns to supervisor in a timely manner.
- Provide for a strong professional image in appearance, uniform and conduct of staff.
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two years related experience.
- YMCA Team Leader Certification completed or willingness to complete.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications within 30 days of hire date and Child Abuse Prevention training along with other safety trainings assigned within 10 days of hire date.
- Committed to and supportive of the Y mission with an emphasis on support and empathy to health seekers.
- Creative, detail oriented, good organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi task.
- Exceptional interpersonal, public relations and communication skills.
- Proficient with technology, including Microsoft Office and demonstrate willingness to continued learning.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from various social and economic segments of the community.
- Willing to work a flexible schedule.
