Food Service Operations Supervisor
The Washington Court House City School District seeks a full-time Food Service Operations Supervisor. The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day foodservice operation and staff in all Washington Courthouse City School Buildings. Staff at each building include a kitchen manager and cooks. This is a hands-on operational supervisor position, visiting and assisting at schools daily. Oversight of the summer feeding program, the Big Blue Bus Program, is also part of the duties of the position, responsible for the day-to-day operation in the summer.
This is a 232-annual workday (8 hours) salaried contract position with no nights or weekends required. Scheduled breaks are built in for major holidays (9) and include spring break and winter break as well. This position is supported by the EPC Foodservice Consulting Program (currently operating in 28 school districts in Ohio). The consultants at the EPC will provide menus and nutritional information along with order guides, vendor information and regulatory oversight. They will also prepare required reports, financial analysis, and will provide audit and review assistance. Their service includes 3 on-site visits annually to review the operation and support the supervisor. The EPC Foodservice Consultant will assist in training the Food Service Operations Supervisor. They act as a resource for your operational questions or concerns.

Qualifications:
- Minimum HS Diploma Required, Advanced Degree Preferred
- Experience working in a commercial kitchen (institutional or restaurant)
- Ability to effectively motivate and manage others.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, vendors, and parents.
- Excellent computer skills are required, Excel spreadsheet experience is a plus
- Exhibit past excellent job attendance record.
- General understanding of basic food cost principles. Previous proven track record of controlling food cost in a commercial kitchen or restaurant is preferred.
- Ability to adapt and solve problems.
- General understanding of foodservice profit and loss concepts.
- Excellent organizational skills and multi-tasking abilities.
- Genuine interest, respect and caring for children.
- Knowledge of cooking concepts and equipment.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Serve-Safe Certified (Ohio Manager Certificate)-or willingness to obtain within 30 days of employment.
Monitor the daily kitchen operation in all Washington Courthouse City Schools to include the following:
- Oversee the safe preparation of appetizing meals in all school kitchens, ensuring quality standards are maintained.
- Assume responsibility for delegating tasks and ensuring adequate staffing.
- Hire, train, evaluate and manage kitchen and service staff, scheduling shifts as needed and approval of leave and time.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment among kitchen staff.
- Conduct regular safety checks of kitchen equipment and report any issues for repair or maintenance.
- Ensure the kitchen follows proper hygiene, safety, and sanitation procedure in accordance with food safety regulations (HACCP guidelines).
- Review ala carte prices annually and discuss with administration.
- Oversee the serving of meals to ensure timely delivery and portion control.
- Coordinate with school staff to manage special dietary needs and allergies.
- Communicate with all district staff regarding any menu changes, updates, or information.
- Maintain Point of Sale updates (annual).
- Follow menu provided and ensure production records are completed daily.
- Review financial reports provided and work with the district to meet financial goals.
- Keep track of student dietary preferences, allergies, and specific needs to ensure the safe preparation of meals.
- Ensure compliance with regulations by maintaining necessary documentation for inspections and audits.
- Collect information for audits as requested.
- Coordinates in-service training and tracks training hours for the staff.
- Manage customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback to enhance service quality.
- Check weekly food orders to make sure correct products are being ordered by managers and that menu is being followed. Submit invoices weekly to the Treasurer’s office.
- Check accuracy and completeness of monthly inventory in all school kitchens. Report total monthly inventory values to the EPC.
Monitor and control food costs in the school cafeterias: Work with kitchen managers and staff to monitor food/supply orders, portion control, waste prevention, Inventory accuracy, USDA entitlement usage, and other cost control measures.
Follow National School Lunch/Breakfast regulations in overseeing the foodservice operation. Training on this will be provided by the EPC.
Pay commensurate with experience and qualifications.
