Position Description
General Description:
This position has five primary responsibilities to help GrazingGoats, Inc. achieve its mission and meet its monthly and annual goals:
1) to support preparation for dinner and event service, and assist with meal service execution as requested;
2) to provide the highest quality food execution and presentation;
3) to lead Dinner service with Chef's guidance;
4) to prepare and a range of baked goods and desserts for breakfast, dinner and event services; and
5) Work in conjunction with the Chef Proprietor to develop and implement a diverse Farm to Table menu for service and banquets
6) To assist in production, preparation and execution of all Banquets and Special Events
7) to oversee kitchen sanitation, implantation and maintenance of HACCP plan, organization of kitchen and proper closing/security procedures.
This position will assist with special events or high-demand service times as required outside of normal hours with respect to personal time.
All staff are expected to promote the Inn and encourage dining, lodging and participation in special events to people they know and meet.
Designation and Pay Rate: A negotiated starting salary rate will be implemented based upon a 5 to 6 day work week and will be reviewed on the 6 month anniversary.
If a 6th day is worked during a busy period a scheduled extra day off will be granted at a requested or designated day that will be worked out with the chef.
Reports to: Chef Proprietor (Chef) and Chef de Cuisine
Supervises/Manages: prep cooks, line cooks and dishwasher
Specific Duties
· Contribute ideas to menus and review with Chef prior to publishing
· Prepare in advance for upcoming meal service
· Assist in development of dining room and banquets menus
· Preps, plates and assists in executing food for service, special events such as Monthly wine dinner and all Banquets
· Maintains inventory and storeroom level
· Assist in ordering of all produce, meats dairy and dry goods. Working with purveyors to get best pricing.
· Wash and sanitize the line, food production areas, storage room and walk-ins
· Wrap and put away all food
· Support dishwasher or wash dishes if there is no dishwasher on duty. This may include sweeping, mopping and brushing floor and disposing of trash and recycling.
· Track inventory.
· Stock inventory as it arrives; keep inventory and serviceware organized and easy to find
· Plate desserts
· Answer telephone as needed in absence of front desk staff.
· Assist with deep cleaning of line equipment and storerooms.
· Meet with Chief Innovation Officer and Chef Proprietor weekly on Thursdays to discuss upcoming business, direction of menu, requests for ordering, general issues and status of goals.
Support Goals Related to Business Objectives:
Maintain a 4.5 or higher star on Yelp and Trip Advisor, and receive at least two new positive reviews per month
Build new revenue streams for gift shop
Weekly Guest Covers for Grazing Room exceed 75
Increase return dinner guest rate
Implement green operating procedures and contribute to supporting and strengthening existing practices.
Smooth inventory system, improved product quality and cost-effectiveness
Supportive, safe, effective and friendly work environment

Other Benefits:
Paid personal leave: In your first year, you will be eligible for 5 days of paid personal leave for any personal use with requests in advance, or by telephone for sickness or emergencies. A total of 10 days will be granted on your first-year anniversary. Upon your third-year anniversary, your leave will be increased to 15 days. A total of three days may be carried over into the next calendar year for no longer than 6 months. Please DO NOT TEXT sick days or requests for days off, but rather speak to the Chef on the phone or in person.
401k participation: All employees are eligible to designate a percentage of their pay after 1,000 service hours; we provide a matching employer contribution of up to 3% of your contribution.
Health insurance: After 90 days, you will have the option to elect both dental and/or vision insurance coverage at full cost to the corporation. You may also submit a personal health insurance statement for reimbursement of up to $250 per month.
Schedule:
A 30-minute meal break (on the clock) and meal is provided daily (self-monitor based upon work load); a 15-minute break should also be taken prior to 30 minutes before dinner or event service begins.
Required Working Days: Valentine's Day, Mother's Day,Easter, Father's Day, Thanksgiving and New Year's Eve are required shifts. We are Closed Christmas Day.
