Responsibilities
- Develop and implement curriculum and programming that meets YMCA standards and NH State Licensing requirements
- Provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children
- Build positive relationships with children and families; maintain confidentiality
- Conduct regular observations and assessments to adapt curriculum to children’s needs and provide bi-annual reports to families
- Lead daily classroom activities, including setup, snack/meals, and cleanup
- Supervise, mentor, and guide classroom staff, including Assistant and Associate Teachers
- Communicate expectations, share weekly classroom plans, and provide timely feedback
- Model professional behavior and set the standard for staff performance and expectations
- Collaborate on curriculum planning, space organization, schedules, and supply needs
- Contribute to a positive, flexible, and collaborative team culture
Qualifications:
- Must meet State of New Hampshire licensing requirements for Lead Teacher
- CPR/AED and First Aid certifications (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience in early childhood education with curriculum planning and classroom leadership
- Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
- Positive, patient, and nurturing approach to children and staff
