Catering Assistant / Prep Cook / Cook Schedule
* This position primarily provides coverage for vacations, sick days, and other events as needed* Candidates must be available to work a variety of shifts, including:

Catering Assistant / Prep Cook / Cook Wage Ranges

Catering Assistant: $16.25 – $20.29 per hour

Prep Cook: $17.00 – $21.04 per hour

Cook: $19.50 – $24.35 per hour
Catering Assistant Responsibilities

Receive tenants’ meal orders and submit them to the kitchen
-
Serve food and beverages during scheduled mealtimes
-
Transport meals from the main kitchen to campus dining rooms
-
Clean and sanitize kitchen and dining areas
-
Wash and store dishes, utensils, and cooking/serving equipment
-
Prepare and package home-delivered meals for community clients
-
Update and maintain menu boards for tenants
Prep Cook Responsibilities
-
Prepare and serve meals according to established menus to meet tenants’ dietary and nutritional needs
-
Assist with ordering food and supplies, ensuring the kitchen remains well-stocked and organized
-
Manage food inventory, including sorting, labeling, and dating items for proper rotation and safety
-
Maintain a clean and sanitary food production area, following proper sanitization and waste disposal procedures

Update and maintain tenant menu boards to ensure clear, accurate communication

Support the Food Service Manager by assisting with the supervision and coordination of dietary staff
Cook Responsibilities

Prepare and serve meals according to menu guidelines, ensuring residents’ nutritional needs are met

Assist with ordering food and supplies as needed
-
Monitor and record food temperatures; verify quality prior to service

Maintain organized inventory by properly sorting, labeling, and dating food and supplies
-
Uphold a clean and safe kitchen environment through proper sanitation and waste disposal practices
-
Oversee the sanitation of kitchen areas, equipment, and food service spaces
-
Update and maintain menu boards for residents
-
Support the Food Service Manager with hiring, onboarding, training, and supervising dietary staff

Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing

MN Food Protection Manager certificate preferred
-
One year experience as a cook preparing food in a long-term care setting preferred
-
Ability to wok as a team member and resolve problem situations constructively
