Preschool Teacher - 3 year old classroom

The Goddard School of Independence is growing, and we are looking for a caring, dependable, and experienced Preschool Teacher to join our established 3-year-old classroom.

This classroom already has a teacher in place, and we are adding a second teacher as our school and program continue to grow. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working collaboratively with another teacher and wants to be part of a supportive classroom team.

Our children are newly potty trained and are building greater independence, communication skills, friendships, and confidence in a preschool setting.

We are especially interested in candidates who have previous experience working in a licensed childcare center or preschool classroom. We may be willing to train the right person who is dependable, eager to learn, and genuinely enjoys working with three-year-olds.

About This Classroom

Three-year-olds are energetic, curious, social, and constantly learning.

Our preschool teachers work together to create a warm, structured, and engaging environment where children can develop socially, emotionally, physically, and academically.

Because the children in this classroom are newly potty trained, teachers must be comfortable providing reminders, helping children manage bathroom routines, and responding calmly to occasional accidents.

This is a hands-on teaching position that requires patience, consistency, teamwork, and strong supervision.

Responsibilities

As a Preschool Teacher, you will:

• Work closely with the existing classroom teacher as a teaching team
• Help create a warm, safe, and engaging classroom environment
• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate learning experiences
• Support early language, social, emotional, cognitive, and motor development
• Encourage independence and age-appropriate self-help skills
• Help children learn classroom routines and expectations
• Support newly potty-trained children with reminders and bathroom routines
• Respond calmly and appropriately to occasional toileting accidents
• Help children develop positive friendships and social skills
• Guide children through transitions, meals, rest time, and daily activities
• Maintain active supervision throughout the day
• Communicate professionally and warmly with families
• Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom
• Work closely with school leadership and the teaching team
• Follow all childcare licensing, health, and safety requirements

• Has experience working in a licensed childcare center or preschool
• Enjoys working specifically with children around age 3

• Understands that newly potty-trained children may still need reminders and support
• Is comfortable helping children with bathroom routines and occasional accidents
• Can provide clear, age-appropriate guidance and boundaries
• Is comfortable managing an active group of preschoolers
• Communicates well with children, families, and coworkers
• Is willing to accept feedback and continue learning
• Takes pride in creating a positive and organized classroom environment
• Has strong attendance and can be counted on by children, families, and coworkers

Experience Preferred

Previous preschool or childcare experience is strongly preferred.

We are especially interested in candidates who have worked with children between approximately 2.5-4 years old and understand the unique developmental needs of this age group.

However, we may be willing to train an exceptional candidate who is dependable, eager to learn, and genuinely interested in building a career in early childhood education.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.50 per hour

Expected hours: 35.0 – 40.0 per week
