Job description:
The Goddard School located at 5701 Lombardo Center Blvd. in Independence is looking for one or two dependable, warm, and highly organized team member(s) who loves both paperwork and working with children. Must be able to work until 6pm Monday through Friday. This position is a blend of front-office responsibilities and hands-on classroom support.
You'll help keep our school running smoothly by greeting families, handling daily administrative tasks, and stepping into classrooms to support teachers and children as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Office & Family Support
- Greet families and visitors in a friendly, professional manner.
- Answer phones, return messages, and respond to family questions.
- Assist with enrollment paperwork, forms, and child files.
- Help with attendance tracking, daily sign-in/out, and schedule changes.
- Support with email communication, reminders, and simple updates to parent communication apps (if used).
Classroom Support
- Step into classrooms as needed to maintain ratios and support teachers.
- Engage with children in a positive, nurturing way, playing, reading, and assisting with activities.
- Help with daily routines (transitions, meals, rest time, toileting support as appropriate).
- Maintain classroom safety, cleanliness, and organization alongside the teaching team.
Team & Operations
- Assist leadership with simple projects (photocopying, organizing supplies, prep work for events, etc.).
- Support school events, family engagement activities, and special theme days.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with teachers, leadership, and families.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a childcare, preschool, or school setting with children 5 years and younger (classroom, office, or both).
- Strong organization skills and comfort using basic computer programs (email, word processing, simple spreadsheets).
- Warm, professional communication style with adults and children.
- Reliable, flexible, and able to shift between office tasks and classroom support.
- Ability to sit on the floor, bend, lift up to 50 pounds, and actively engage with children throughout the day.
Pay: $ $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25.0 – 40.0 per week
