About the GO Project
The GO Project helps New York City public school students thrive in the earliest stages of their education through year-round academic, social-emotional, and family support.
GO Project is based in NYC and all positions for GO Summer 2026 are in-person. Locations are in lower Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Position Description
The GO Project is seeking exceptional K-7 teachers with demonstrated success as a teacher for our five-week GO Summer elementary and middle school programs.
Permanent Substitutes are flexible and support the campus as a teacher as well as with programmatic and administrative tasks. Permanent Substitutes fill vacancies in the Head Teacher position, including one day absences as well as rare ongoing absences. Permanent subs may be required to fill in at alternate campuses on occasion.
Responsibilities of the head teacher include, but are not limited to:
- Ensuring that students are doing the cognitive work during lessons, are engaging in appropriately challenging thinking, and are using evidence to support their thinking and/or form their answers and opinions
- Use GO Project classroom structures, such as Morning Meeting and values, to develop social emotional skills
- Implement GO Project lesson plan
- Manage a team of classroom assistants, including Teaching Assistants, GO Getters (high school interns), and Student Teachers to ensure that every adult in a classroom is adequately prepared to support student learning
Qualifications
- At least one year of experience leading students as either a substitute teacher or a head teacher.
- Fluency using Microsoft Suite/sharepoint.
Additional Requirements
All staff must pass a background check and provide a medical clearance form signed by a medical professional prior to training.
Program Training and Instruction Dates
The Sub HT schedule during GO Summer runs on Monday through Friday from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm and is in person.
Training Dates: In-Person for Instructional Staff: July 1 and 2 from 9am to 4pm with additional remote dates throughout June to be announced.
Program Dates: July 6 through August 7
Compensation:
Salary for this position is $30 per hour for 27.5 hours per week over 5 weeks.
