ABOUT THE POSITION
The Development Associate will play a key role in supporting the administration and operations of partnerships with the GIIN's portfolio of funders. We are seeking a highly organized self-starter to maintain and enhance efficient internal systems and records for the Development team; draft clear, structured donor engagement and compliance materials; and support donor cultivation efforts. This role provides ongoing administrative support and Salesforce management that leads to analytically driven and strategic operational outcomes.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Essential Duties of the Job
Donor Reporting & Grant Management
- Produce well-crafted donor reports for foundations, governments, and corporate funders that present the GIIN's market building activities with clarity, elevating key achievements relative to funder priorities.
- Collaborate with the Development team and/or GIIN program teams to ensure compliance with and completion of grant obligations, including but not limited to key performance indicators, project deliverables and milestones, and specific reporting requirements.
- Manage data collection for internal organization-wide quarterly reporting by GIIN program teams, including:
- Developing and/or updating internal reporting templates for new grants
- Gathering and ensuring high-quality, accurate, and relevant information/data.
- Liaising with program staff to ensure appropriate and clear framing or presentation of activities.
- Maintain Salesforce data for all grants and donors
Development Operations
- Support grant management for the GIIN's portfolio of funders, including:
- Creating grant management materials to ensure clear understanding of grant commitments and details across Development, Program, and Finance teams.
- Coordinating with the Finance team on grant administrative details
- Corresponding with funders for administrative purposes as needed
- Maintain institutional donor files and grant records, including tracking relevant funder information, proposal and reporting timelines, and conducting regular audits for data accuracy in Salesforce and other internal systems.
- Manage files and important documents for the Development team, in coordination with Finance and Operations teams.
- Support event sponsor cultivation efforts through research and administrative support as needed to help expand the GIIN's sponsor pipeline.
Additional Responsibilities
- Contribute to the grant proposal development process, including compiling organizational due diligence information, drafting grant narratives, and managing submissions
- Support donor pipeline development, including conducting research on prospective funders and tracking action items.
- Support all other day-to-day operations that enable a successful fundraising strategy.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit management, communications, journalism, international development, or a related field.
- 0–2 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, development operations, grant writing/management, or a related administrative role.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to produce clear, well-organized materials for diverse audiences.
- Experience working with Salesforce or a comparable CRM platform; comfort with data entry, recordkeeping, and basic reporting.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive, self-starter approach with a commitment to process improvement and operational excellence.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and engage with staff at all levels.
- Commitment to human dignity, justice, fairness, and respect.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with impact investing, sustainable finance, or related fields.
- Experience with foundation, government, or corporate grant compliance and reporting.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, project management tools (e.g., Asana), and data visualization or reporting tools.
- Experience supporting donor prospecting and pipeline research.
LOCATION & ELIGIBILITY
This position will be based in our New York City office. The GIIN operates a hybrid work model with distinct in-person and flexible work periods throughout the year.
Candidates must possess valid authorization to work in the United States that does not require employment visa sponsorship. For example, possess U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residency (Green Card).
COMPENSATION
The GIIN is committed to pay equity. The salary range for this role is between $59,500 and $64,000 per annum, with exact salary depending on qualification, experience, and non-profit market alignment, with an excellent benefits package.
