Position Summary:
The Dietary Aide performs designated work and cleaning routines in the Skilled Nursing Center and/or Assisted Living Facility for the Dietary Department.
Responsibilities:
- Performs defined work routines, using various dietary utensils, supplies and equipment as assigned by the Dietary Manager.
- Aids the cook in the preparation and service of meals.
- Meets scheduled meal and snack times.
- Follows cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties as scheduled.
- Assist in arranging tray cards, loading food carts, and serving meals.
- Setting up the dining room and serving members.
- Washes and stores dishes.
- Follows established reporting procedures for the following: supply or equipment needs, any damaged or loose fixtures, flooring, or tiling requiring replacement or repair, any unsafe or malfunctioning equipment, any conditions conducive to breeding insects, rodents or other vermin.
- Assists in receiving and storing food and supplies.
- Attends in-service educational programs.
- Follows defined safety codes while performing all duties.
- Follows defined Infection Control procedures.
- Understands facility’s fire and disaster plans; follow established procedures during drills and actual emergencies.
- Performs other department duties or special assignments as directed by the Dietary Manager
- Follows and complies with health and safety departmental safe job procedures.
- Attends and participates in all in-service programs.
- Uses good judgment in determining the needs of Members and working with the different departments and in maintaining delivery of those needs in accordance with recognized standards; and is expected to understand and follow all regulatory and facility policies.
- Maintains knowledge of federal, state and local regulations, policies and procedures regarding food service practices.
Qualifications:
- Must have at least a High School diploma or equivalent with at least 3 months of prior dietary experience. Must be able to read, write and interpret simple instructions.
- Knowledge of processes for providing customer service, assessing customer needs, meeting quality standards and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal food sanitation regulations.
- Excellent communication skills and problem-solving skills
- Must be empathetic, enthusiastic and have an affinity for working with a diverse senior population.
