Reporting to the Associate Director, Lerner Health & Wellness, the Manger, Student Development will be responsible for the following duties:

Student Development & Engagement:

  • Supervise, train, and develop one full-time Lerner Staffing Coordinator.
  • Directly supervise up to 15 student Managers and 10 Assistant Managers.
  • Plan, staff, and schedule Lerner Health and Wellness Center for full operation throughout the year.
  • Plan, execute, and evaluate a comprehensive Campus Recreation student employee development program including leadership and career readiness initiatives.
  • Review and update all Campus Recreation student employee manuals and training guides.
  • Lead centralized departmental new hire training for new student and temporary employees ( CPR , departmental onboarding, emergency action plan).
  • Develop and ensure consistent implementation of unit-wide communication and guest service expectations across the Campus Recreation unit.
  • Track and estimate payroll budget for student staff personnel including Federal Work Study, Hourly Wage employees, and temporary appointments.
  • Coordinate with Title IX, Diversity and Inclusion, Security and Bias training for all staff training.
  • Manage, update, and monitor compliance of all Campus Recreation student and temporary employee training programs and required certifications.
  • Create and coordinate consistent student and temporary employee performance evaluation processes.
  • Lead student employee recognition programs (All-star program, employee appreciation events).
  • Assist with consistent departmental risk management implementation, including safety audits at regular intervals throughout the calendar year.

Hiring & Payroll:

  • Ensure consistent execution of payroll approval and tracking across the unit.
  • Ensure consistent execution of student hiring and promotion actions across the unit.

Facility Operations:

  • Assist with all daily operations of the Lerner Health and Wellness Center.

The position is based at GW’s Foggy Bottom Campus in Washington, DC. The incumbent may perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/ GED plus 4 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:

  • CPR / AED /First Aid from American Red Cross or equivalent required to be obtained within 90 days of date of hire.
  • DC Certified Pool Operator required to be obtained within 90 days of date of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

Hiring Range $47,073.26 - $64,771.35
