What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Maintenance Technician position at The Gent Machine Company?
Summary: The industrial maintenance technician will have a variety of daily responsibilities including maintenance on the CNC, Hydromat, Acme & Davenport machines as well as all support equipment. The technician will also perform light building maintenance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain machines on a daily basis:
- Ensure operators are filling out maintenance sheets
- Repair/replace bearings, shafts, sleeves, timing, belts, motors, servos, etc.
- Maintain and service bar feeders
- Troubleshoot job and machine related issues on all machines
- Troubleshoot machine related issues on ancillary equipment
- Perform predictive and preventative maintenance on machines
- Create/update/manage setup sheets, job packets and programs
- Additional maintenance duties as needed
Qualification Requirements:
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- Must have at least 5 years of machine repair experience
- Must have strong mechanical skills
- Must have strong troubleshooting skills
- Must be able to diagnose machine issues and be able to repair the problem
- Ideally know how to use the proper machining speeds and feeds
- Ideally have strong knowledge of cutting tools
- Preferable to have some electrical skills
- Ability to communicate information and work with machine operators
- Ability to distinguish between various material types (steel, stainless, brass or aluminum).
- Must be cooperative and a team player
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
- Excellent work habits including punctuality, attendance, and work ethic
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to:
- Ability to sit, stand and walk on oily surfaces.
- Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds
