Job Summary
Responsible for carrying out set plans and leading department activities such as huddles and coordination of labor during their shift to ensure all hospital areas are safe, orderly and in sanitary condition in the absence of the supervisor.

Essential Functions
- Cleans and disinfects patient rooms, floors, offices, conference rooms, equipment, furniture, common areas, and waiting rooms following hospital-approved infection prevention standards.
- Performs high level cleaning in specialized areas such as clinical areas, surgical suites, cath lab, specialty rooms, and sterile areas without direct supervision.
- Serves as a resource for external and internal department team members on environmental services matters.
- Provides input on department processes and training materials, and provides suggestions for improvement.
- Collaborates with multiple departments to ensure patient and department priorities are met day-to-day that result in the safest outcomes for our patients and customers.
- Uses proper personal protective equipment and cleaning procedures specific to infectious elements in isolation rooms. Ensures environmental services team members maintain proper infection control cleaning standards at all times, including hand hygiene requirements.
- Understands and uses proper hospital-approved chemicals and disinfectants and follows dwell times (amount of time the chemical or disinfectant needs to stay wet on surface) for each task performed and product used.
- Understands how to handle various types of waste such as regular, recycling, hazardous, chemo, regulated medical waste, pharmaceutical, and radioactive.
