Drafter – AutoCAD/Civil 3D
Gateway is looking for a detail-oriented Drafter to join our surveying and engineering team. In this role, you’ll use AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office tools to turn field data into accurate, client-ready drawings that support pipeline and land development projects. You’ll also play a key role in quality control, ensuring every deliverable meets Gateway’s standards for precision and reliability.
What You’ll Do
- Draft client deliverables such as alignment sheets, landowner plats, permit and bore profiles, and boundary surveys
- Create and manage surfaces in Civil 3D
- Perform quality control checks to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Troubleshoot basic AutoCAD issues and support project efficiency
- Assist Licensed Surveyors and field crews as needed
- Contribute to a variety of projects and step in where your drafting expertise is needed most
What We’re Looking For
- Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D (current version)
- Strong attention to detail with a quality-first mindset
- Solid understanding of surveying practices, land grid systems, and coordinate zones
- Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD commands, functions, dynamic blocks, title blocks, plot routines, and ctb files
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate across teams
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and work at a desk for extended periods
- Must be able to pass a required drug test and background check
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- 2–4 years of drafting experience preferred
