The applicant selected must undergo and pass a drug screening test prior to employment.
In compliance with G.S.153A-94.2 (b), if the position being filled requires an applicant for employment to work with children in any capacity, the County must require the applicant, if offered the position, to be subject to a criminal history record check conducted by the SBI. These checks must be performed in accordance with G.S.143B-1209.26, which authorizes the SBI to provide fingerprint-based state and national criminal record checks to cities and counties.

Examples Of Duties

- Greets museum visitors and provides an overview of the current exhibits and attractions to maximize the visitor's experience. Record statistical data pertaining to visitation and guest interaction with exhibits. Answer and transfer all incoming calls for staff.
- Maintains daily operations of the museum store by assisting shoppers, selling merchandise, stocking merchandise, taking inventory, and performing other incidental museum shop duties as assigned.
- Monitors exhibited and displayed items by personal observation and via remote cameras to ensure the safety and security of museum collection pieces as well as items on loan to the museum.
- Opens all museum facilities and performs any needed exhibit setup at the beginning of the day. Secures the museum at closing by locking buildings and activating the alarm system.
- Provide guided tours/ gallery talks at the museum as assigned and scheduled by the Assistant Director.
- Assist staff in education programs, museum special events, and collection research projects as assigned by the Assistant Director.
- Assist staff in setting up for scheduled events and providing routine maintenance duties, including, but not limited to, changing light bulbs, moving tables, and light gallery cleaning
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- At least one year of customer service, preferably in a museum environment.
