You will report to the Hotel General Manager and function as an essential strategic partner, shaping the very essence of our culture. From collaborating with leaders and infusing the Garland brand into every aspect of HR, the Director of Human Resources fosters unity and teamwork among our talented associates. This role serves as a key member of our Executive Committee, ensuring your voice is heard at the highest level.

Our onsite restaurant – The Front Yard – is a unique neighborhood gathering place showcasing LA’s diverse flavors in a setting as casual and comfortable as an evening at an old friend’s house.
What will you be doing?
- Responsible for championing our hotel’s culture, this role ensures our values are reflected in how we hire, develop, engage, and support our associates.
- Oversee all areas of human resource administration, including but not limited to: talent selection, recruitment lifecycle, team building, organizational development, associate relations, leave management, payroll administration, benefits and workers compensation administration.
- Recommend, evaluate, participate, and lead training and development programs, as well as remain current with industry trends in order to make necessary recommendations.
- Direct and supervise Human Resources Coordinator, along with indirect support and management of leaders and supervisors in partnership with Executive Committee members.
- Ensure communication of and compliance with all policies, standards and practices, as well as federal, state and local legislation pertaining to employment law.
- Administer standard performance management and compensation practices.
- Develop and manage annual department budget and ensure effective expense controls are in place.
- Lead associate relations issues, including but not limited to: investigations, coaching/counseling, and policy advisement/enforcement.
- Spearheading company culture alongside the Executive Committee and Ownership.
What should you bring to the role?
- 5 to 8 years of total HR experience, including responsibility for talent acquisition, associate relations, training, benefits, etc.
- 3 to 5 years of proven HR leadership experience, preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a related field
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with all levels of the organization
- Familiarity with Paycom is an asset.
- Spanish bilingual a plus.
