Assistant Teacher/Floater

Overview:
We are seeking a warm, caring, and enthusiastic Preschool Assistant Teacher to join our team at The Gan, a brand-new Jewish preschool opening this March. Our school nurtures the whole child in a joyful, brain-friendly environment guided by our 4B.E.L.S. Philosophy.

The Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in creating a safe, welcoming classroom where children feel secure, curious, and excited to learn. This role is perfect for someone who loves working with young children, enjoys being part of a team, and is passionate about early childhood development and Jewish values.

Responsibilities:

• Support the Lead Teacher in daily classroom activities, lessons, and routines.
• Help create a warm, positive classroom environment that encourages learning, kindness, and independence.
• Supervise children during play, meals, transitions, and rest time to ensure safety and well-being.
• Assist with preparing materials, setting up activities, and keeping the classroom organized and clean.
• Support children’s social, emotional, and developmental growth through positive interactions and guidance.
• Work collaboratively with teachers and staff to maintain a strong, supportive team environment.
• Communicate respectfully with families as needed.
• Follow all safety, health, and licensing guidelines.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Must have completed required DCF training hours or be willing to complete them promptly.
• Previous experience working with young children in a preschool, daycare, or similar setting preferred.
• Experience with 4 B.E.L.S., Reggio Emilia or Montessori-inspired environments is a plus.
• Warm, patient, and reliable with a genuine love for working with children.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Ability to follow classroom routines and support children with different learning styles.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
