The Future Years Inc. is seeking a compassionate and dependable Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support a friendly adult male with developmental disabilities.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, encouraging community involvement, and helping an individual become more engaged and independent.
About the Individual
He enjoys getting out into the community and becomes excited about activities, although he sometimes needs encouragement to leave the house. He benefits from someone who is patient, engaging, and able to stimulate conversation. He experiences anxiety and periods of loneliness, so a calm, supportive personality is important.
He requires assistance with some activities of daily living. His mother currently provides much of this support, and we're looking for a DSP who can help him build confidence and participate in enjoyable community experiences.
What You'll Do
- Provide companionship and emotional support
- Encourage participation in community outings and recreational activities
- Support exercise and healthy routines
- Help reduce isolation by engaging in conversation and meaningful activities
- Encourage independence while providing hands-on assistance as needed
- Assist with personal care
- Support meal-related needs and daily routines
- Maintain a safe, positive, and encouraging environment
