What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Mentoring Program Manager position at The Friends Program?
General Summary:
Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Youth Mentoring Program and assisting in the formulation, development, recommendation, implementation, and administration of the agency and program policies, procedures and goals. Ensure that mentors and matches are effectively recruited, trained, and matched with mentees and ensures ongoing success of matches. Supports an individual caseload of mentoring matches. Supervises the activities of the program and is able to represent the program effectively by making public speaking presentations.
Principal Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Participates in developing and implementing overall policies, programs, objectives, and goals. Responsible for communicating to program staff (internal or external) as necessary and relay appropriate information in a timely manner.
2. Assists in the revision of operating policies, procedures, objectives, and goals for each area of responsibility to ensure that they support program policies and objectives.
3. Assist in the review of legislation and legal decisions affecting their program and ensures compliance with all applicable regulations and statues.
4. On an ongoing basis, reviews the Youth Mentoring program for viability and assesses the effectiveness. Assists in research into new concepts that improves operating efficiency and successful program outcomes.
5. Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of fundraising activities including donations, corporate support, special events, and grant writing and reporting.
6. Assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
7 . Assists in the development and implementation of annual goals and objectives. Monitors budget for the Youth Mentoring Program.
8. Directs personnel activities to ensure solid team efforts toward the attainment of program and agency goals.
9. Supervise, support and maintain a caseload of mentoring matches.
10. Supervision of the screening and training of volunteers.
11. Makes decision of approval of volunteers and new matches.
12. Implements and coordinates recruitment and promotional activities.
13. Represents the agency appropriately with clients, volunteers, and other like agencies or those with a similar client base.
14. Network with other community agencies, organizations and schools.
15. Attend in-services/conferences required of the position/program yearly and initiate requests to attend training to improve job performance.
16. Lead program team/staff meetings.
17. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Administration, Human Services, Counseling, Social Work or related field or equivalent experience. Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in a related field. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as strong organizational and management abilities. Experience networking with community resources. Experience in supervising staff and volunteers preferred. Must be competent and possess a wide range of computer skills.
Must have proven track record of program development
