Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and standards, ensuring consistency and quality in every dish
- Assist with food preparation tasks such as chopping, slicing, marinating, and portioning ingredients to streamline kitchen operations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines at all times
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely delivery of orders and smooth kitchen workflow during busy periods
- Follow proper food handling procedures to prevent cross-contamination and ensure the safety of all food served
- Support menu planning efforts by providing input on ingredient availability and seasonal specials
- Assist with catering events or special functions as needed, ensuring high-quality service and presentation
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or a similar role within a restaurant or food industry setting
- Strong knife skills and proficiency in meal preparation techniques
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling practices
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills to coordinate effectively with kitchen staff
- Experience with dietary department guidelines or dietary aide experience is a plus
- Familiarity with menu planning, food service operations, and catering is highly desirable
