The Role
The After School Programs Coordinator is responsible for overseeing student activities and supervision outside of the academic day. This includes managing after-school care, clubs, athletics, recess and lunch supervision, and student supervision staff. The Coordinator helps ensure students experience a safe, engaging, and positive environment while supporting the school's commitment to student development and community engagement.
Key ResponsibilitiesStudent Supervision
- Coordinate daily lunch and recess supervision schedules.
- Support and supervise student supervision staff.
- Promote student safety and positive behavior.
- Develop engaging game options and activities during recess.
- Ensure appropriate supervision coverage throughout the day.
After School Programs
- Oversee the daily operation of the school's after-school care program.
- Supervise program staff and maintain a welcoming environment.
- Develop enrichment activities and daily schedules.
- Communicate with families regarding enrollment, invoicing and student needs.
- Maintain attendance and student check-in/check-out procedures.
Athletics & Clubs
- Coordinate athletic practices, competitions, and registrations.
- Recruit and support coaches and club leaders.
- Schedule facilities, equipment, and transportation.
- Develop engaging after-school clubs and enrichment opportunities.
- Monitor participation and evaluate program success.
Leadership & Operations
- Hire, train, and support student supervision staff, coaches, and club leaders.
- Assist with program budgets, invoicing and purchasing.
- Maintain schedules, records, and program documentation.
- Ensure all programs operate safely and effectively.
Family Engagement
- Communicate regularly with families regarding programs and activities.
- Support school events and community-building opportunities.
- Promote programs through school communications.

Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in education, recreation, youth development, athletics, or a related field
- Experience working with school-aged children
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to pass all required background checks
Preferred
- Experience coordinating after-school programs, athletics, or extracurricular activities
- Experience supervising staff
- Knowledge of child development and positive behavior supports
- Experience in an independent school setting
Compensation
$29-$32/hour
Placement within the range is based on experience, education, and demonstrated qualifications.
