Security Guard

Job Summary

The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and orderly environment for students, staff, visitors, and property at The Foundation Academy LLC. This role serves as a visible deterrent to criminal activity and is expected to respond swiftly and professionally to any threats or emergencies. The Security Guard must exercise sound judgment, demonstrate restraint, and prioritize de-escalation while ensuring campus safety.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide armed security presence on campus during operational hours and designated events.
• Patrol school buildings, grounds, parking areas, and perimeter to deter and detect security risks.
• Monitor access points and verify identification of visitors.
• Enforce campus safety procedures and visitor management protocols.
• Respond to disturbances, threats, suspicious activity, and emergency situations.
• Utilize conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques whenever possible.
• Maintain strict control, safety, and accountability of assigned firearm and related equipment.
• Coordinate with local law enforcement and emergency responders as needed.
• Monitor security cameras and alarm systems.
• Complete accurate and timely incident, daily activity, and use-of-force reports
• Assist with arrival, dismissal, and special event security as needed.
• Participate in safety drills and emergency preparedness planning experience
• Proven experience in physical security, law enforcement, military service, or related fields is highly desirable
• Familiarity with CCTV surveillance systems and access control technologies
• Knowledge of emergency response procedures including first aid, CPR, AED operation, and fire safety protocols
• Experience in incident report writing with attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to perform background checks and conduct thorough security screenings
• Strong understanding of compliance with security regulations and legal standards
• Demonstrated conflict management skills with the ability to handle tense situations calmly and effectively

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2–3 years of security, military, or law enforcement experience preferred.
• Valid state-issued Armed Security Guard License is a plus but not required.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)

• Understanding of trauma-informed approaches and de-escalation strategies.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations.
• Ability to carry required safety equipment and firearm.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds if needed.

Work Environment

• School campus environment (indoor and outdoor).
• Interaction with students, staff, parents, and visitors.
• May require evening or weekend coverage for special programs or events.
