About the Position
The Accounting Technician works closely with the Finance Director and performs a blend of accounting, customer service, and administrative responsibilities. This includes tasks related to cash receipting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger support.
You will also be a key point of contact for utility and customer billing—opening and closing accounts, collecting payments, issuing refunds, and assisting customers both in person and by phone. Additional responsibilities include supporting grant and lien management work, preparing journal entries, and assisting with year-end audit procedures.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a dependable, friendly professional who enjoys both numbers and people. While no candidate will match every qualification, individuals with the following experience and attributes are strongly encouraged to apply:
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related field
- Knowledge of bookkeeping, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
- Proficiency with spreadsheets, word processing, and PDF management tools
- Strong communication skills including grammar, spelling, and professional correspondence
- Experience with utility or municipal billing (preferred but not required)
- Willingness to learn, grow, and adapt in a fast-paced environment
Compensation & Benefits

Compensation
- Hourly rate: $25.15 – $33.92, depending on experience and qualifications
