Medical Assistant

Summary: Under the general supervision of the Medical Director & MAT Director, provide medical care/phlebotomy services to those clients receiving Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) and assist in drug screening throughout the agency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide Essential Nursing Care to clients including, but not limited to: collection of vital signs; collection of client history; and performing Clinical Opiate Withdrawal Scale (COWS).
- Obtain prior authorization for medications from commercial insurance and/or Medicaid/MCO’s.
- Chart all services in client medical records. (UDS).
- Maintain and update all necessary paperwork.
- Obtain blood samples from patients for lab work, process, spin down, and package specimen.
Marginal Duties: Provide assistant to department administration when needed and when availability allows. Participate as a member of the MAT clinical treatment team.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Special Requirements: Must meet and maintain minimum qualifications established for the position by the agency and the State of South Carolina (CPT-Certified Phlebotomy Technician).
Physical Demands: This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount to force frequently or constantly to utilize office equipment.
