What are the responsibilities and job description for the Science Teacher position at The Fletcher Academy?
The Fletcher Academy, an independent special education school in Raleigh, NC, seeks to hire full-time science teachers for the 2025-2026 academic year. Depending on candidate background and experience, positions may be available at both the middle and high school level.
A bachelor's or master's degree in education is required. Special education certification or experience is a big plus, though not required. A background working with students with learning challenges and a solid ability to effectively differentiate instruction is a must.
Fletcher is a small school with a very favorable average student to teacher ratio, offering very small class sizes of up to 10 students. We DO NOT specialize in serving students with behavior disorders; instead, our students struggle with a host of learning differences, including ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, and other learning challenges. It's a joyful environment because our community promotes curiosity, kindness and professionalism. It's a hidden gem and one of the best places to work as an educator.
