The Fireside Theatre (Fort Atkinson, WI) is holding an open call for non-equity actors for principal roles in their production of A CHRISTMAS STORY; Book by Joseph Robinette; Music and Lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul; Director: Justin Brill; Musical Director: Mary Ehlinger; Choreographer: Shanna VanDerwerker.
We will hold a live in-person audition on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Open Jar Studios, 1601 Broadway, 11th floor.

Seeking:
Jean Shepherd: (Narrator) Male 40 – 55: Charismatic storyteller with a dynamic speaking voice who can draw the audience into the world of the play. Non-singing.
The Old Man: Male 30-45: High baritone or tenor to a high G. Good comic ability. He has a good heart, but it’s buried under a rough exterior.
Mother: Female 28 – 40: Mezzo-soprano Low G to high D flat. Good comic ability. She is more in charge than she would ever let anyone know. Warm but strong-willed, straight forward, no nonsense, likable, midwestern – a kind of every-mom.
Miss Shields: Female 25-40: Alto belter. She is Ralphie’s elementary school teacher. Great with comedy. Flexible voice who is comfortable singing both legit and contemporary Broadway. Great mover and a strong tapper.
Santa: Male 30-60s, The Santa Claus at Higbee's Department Store is ill-tempered, slightly inebriated and very unhappy with his job.
Additional Adults: All Ages: Various ensemble roles as well as covers for principal roles. A strong sense of musical theatre comedy is needed.
