This position performs transvaginal ultrasounds for fertility patients. This requires collaborating with physicians, nurses, and patients by providing exceptional care for fertility patients. As an experienced sonographer, you will be working in a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment where you will be relied on for your expertise, professionalism, and collaboration. This is a vital role as you will play a key role in providing accurate and detailed imaging to aid in patient diagnosis and treatment plans
Responsibilities include:
- Baseline Gynecological Scan: Baseline trans-vaginal ultrasound scan to ascertain a normal uterus and ovaries along with an antral follicle count. The scan findings should correlate with the stage of the patient’s cycle and exclude pathologies. Reviews patient history and other supporting data to facilitate optimum diagnostic results.
- Treatment Scans: Scan to monitor ovarian follicles with 3D technology.
- Explains procedures to patients to assure cooperation and optimum test results, positions patient.
- Evaluates clarity and accuracy of ultrasound data.
- Makes necessary measurements & calculations
- Documents results utilizing our electronic medical records
- Establishes personal rapport with patients
- Review the patient's medical chart prior to their appointment and have a clear understanding of the images required
- Use positioning tools and safety equipment properly to ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the imaging
- Use ethical judgment and critical thinking skills to perform diagnostic imaging safely
- Review images before sending to the physician to ensure a clear image of the area requested
- Maintains Infection Control Policies with regard to cleanliness of equipment and environment of the ultrasound work areas.
- Refers urgent or unusual cases to the referring physician or appropriate staff that needs immediate attention.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements/Experience:
- 2 years of experience as an ultrasound technologist – required RDMS/RVT required
- Ability to effectively operate all pieces of equipment utilized within the scope of this job
- Proficiency with EMR for documentation and sonographic report presentation
- Experience working with sensitive and personal patient records and information
- Proficient in troubleshooting common software and hardware challenges in relation to the regular use of an ultrasound machine
- Accountability and attention to detail is essential when handling and documenting important medical information
- Understanding and ability to follow MD protocols for procedures
- A friendly and professional demeanor is required when explaining procedures and processes to patients
- Previous experience in women's health or reproductive endocrinology and infertility – preferred
- Completion of formal Ultrasound training in an AMA accredited school that meets requirements for registry by ARDMS
- Demonstrated knowledge and adherence to HIPAA legislation and other patient privacy laws
- Physical endurance and the ability to work primarily in a standing position
Academic Training:
• Completion of formal Ultrasound training and certification
• Current BLS Certification - required
Salary : $48 - $50
