The RoleThe Ferraro Group is looking for a Residential Interior Designer to join our Traverse City team. We are a client-focused firm; we don’t push a single signature look, but rather adapt our expertise to our clients' specific styles—from modern waterfront estates to classic Northern Michigan lake cottages.
We need a designer who is technically proficient in AutoCAD and SketchUp and is ready to manage the logistics of a project from the first draft to the final walkthrough.
Key Responsibilities- Drafting & Modeling: Produce accurate floor plans, elevations, and custom millwork drawings in AutoCAD. Build 3D models in SketchUp to communicate design intent to clients.
- Project Management: Use Buildertrend to track project progress, manage schedules, and maintain clear communication with clients and contractors.
- Selection & Sourcing: Identify and specify finishes, fixtures, furniture, and lighting that fit the client's aesthetic and budget.
- Execution: Coordinate with vendors and on-site contractors to ensure designs are implemented correctly.
- Site Work: Conduct site visits for measurements, progress checks, and troubleshooting during construction.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or a related field.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp is required.
- Experience: 1–3 years in a professional residential design setting.
- Local Knowledge: Familiarity with the Northern Michigan residential market and construction standards is a plus.
- Schedule: Full-time, 5 days a week in our Traverse City office with site and vendor visits as needed.
- Time Off: 3 weeks of earned vacation the first year.
- PM Software: We utilize Buildertrend for all project management; experience with the platform is a plus, but we will train the right candidate.
