Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Kitchen Helper to support our culinary team in a fast-paced food service environment. The ideal candidate will assist with food preparation, ensure food safety standards are maintained, and contribute to the smooth operation of our kitchen. Duties
- Assist with meal preparation and food assembly according to established recipes and menu plans
- Support cooking activities, including basic food handling and knife skills
- Help with food safety practices, including proper storage, sanitation, and cleanliness of kitchen areas
- Prepare ingredients and assist with portioning for various dishes
- Support catering events and serve food as needed
- Maintain organized workstations and ensure all kitchen equipment is clean and functional
- Follow dietary guidelines and assist dietary aides in meal service for residents or customers
- Assist with inventory management by monitoring supplies and notifying supervisors of shortages
Requirements
- Prior experience in dietary department, food service, or culinary environment is preferred but not required
- Knowledge of menu planning, food preparation, and cooking techniques is advantageous
- Familiarity with food safety standards and proper food handling procedures
- Strong knife skills and experience in meal preparation are desirable
- Ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented environment
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and safety standards
- Previous restaurant, catering, or kitchen experience is a plus
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work in a fast-paced setting
