TITLE: Driver - Grocery Recovery and Distribution ORGANIZATION: We Love Our City LOCATION: Vacaville, CAHOURS: Full-Time We Love Our City is a community-focused non-profit organization dedicated to serving families throughout Vacaville and the surrounding area. Through our Grocery Recovery Program and food distribution efforts, we work to ensure local families have access to fresh, safe, and reliable food resources.POSITION SUMMARYThe We Love Our City Driver plays a vital role as a frontline representative of our organization. The Driver is responsible for maintaining a high standard of excellence while interacting with donors, partners, and the community. This position involves direct handling of donated food items and adherence to Grocery Recovery and Food Safety protocols.We are seeking a dedicated and reliable individual who will be responsible for picking up food donations and transporting them to designated distribution locations and storage sites as required. The Driver may also be assigned additional tasks as needed to support the organizations mission.QUALIFICATIONS (AT THE TIME OF HIRE)Due to insurance coverage restrictions, must be at least 25 years of age.Must be able to safely operate a 26-ft Freightliner truck.Clean driving record and experience operating larger vehicles.Ability to communicate clearly in a busy environment.Basic math skills.General knowledge of warehouse practices and pallet jack operation.Ability to follow a timed schedule and make independent decisions.Strong attention to detail.Ability to work well with others and maintain a friendly, professional demeanor.Forklift training or experience, preferred.AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to the following)Drive to multiple donor locations to pick up and load food donations.Sort, weigh, and store donations according to program standards.Ensure timely retrieval, allocation, and delivery of daily donations.Complete required weight logs and documentation accurately and thoroughly.Place all donations in their proper storage areas.Monitor vehicle condition and promptly report needed repairs.Perform minor vehicle maintenance tasks (e.g., refilling gas and fluids).Operate pallet jacks and forklifts as needed (training provided if necessary).Maintain respectful, positive relationships with all donor representatives.Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director.Personal ContactThis role requires routine interactions with We Love Our City staff, volunteers, donors, and the community.Physical RequirementsAbility to lift at least 35 lbs unassisted.Ability to sit for extended periods while driving.Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry heavy items.Ability to enter and exit a large vehicle using steps and bending.
