General Description
The Health Insurance Navigator provides hands-on assistance to individuals and families in understanding health insurance options, completing applications, and enrolling in plans. This role ensures consumers receive accurate, culturally sensitive guidance to access affordable coverage through the state-based exchange in New Jersey, GetCoveredNJ.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist consumers with health insurance enrollment activities, including plan selection, application completion, and submission.
- Explain health insurance options and eligibility requirements in clear, accessible language.
- Complete required Navigator training and maintain certification, including continuing education.
- Conduct outreach and education in community settings (schools, libraries, community centers) to inform individuals about available health coverage.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions and enrollment outcomes in internal databases.
- Collaborate with community partners and agencies to expand access and overcome barriers to coverage.
- Ensure all work is carried out respectfully and in a culturally sensitive manner, especially for individuals with disabilities or limited English proficiency.

The position is anticipated to last approximately 12 weeks with no guarantee of continuation beyond January 31, 2026.
