Responsibilities
- Assist patients in selecting eyewear that meets their prescription needs and personal style preferences
- Verify prescriptions using medical records and ensure accuracy before dispensing
- Take precise measurements for lens fitting, including pupillary distance and frame sizing
- Educate patients on lens options, lens coatings, and proper eyewear maintenance
- Operate optical laboratory equipment and perform basic repairs or adjustments as needed
- Maintain detailed patient records within Crystal EHR.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality and data security
- Collaborate with Dr Landis and the staff to provide comprehensive patient care
- Manage retail sales transactions accurately, including retail math calculations and inventory management
- Support clinic operations by adhering to aseptic techniques during procedures requiring sterile environments
- Keep the optical area clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies
- Maintain contact lens inventory and order patient contact lenses.

Skills
- Knowledge of optometry, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to eye care
- Experience with optical equipment, laboratory procedures, and fitting techniques
- Familiarity with EHR systems for medical records management
- Ability to interpret prescriptions accurately and communicate effectively with patients of all ages, including pediatrics and senior care populations
- Retail sales experience combined with retail management skills is advantageous
- Knowledge of medical billing and coding processes related to optical services.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to educate patients about eyewear options and eye health
- Ability to work efficiently within HIPAA guidelines while maintaining high standards of patient confidentiality
- Proficiency in clinic experience or healthcare environments emphasizing medical records accuracy and vital signs monitoring is beneficial
