The Expo Group is seeking a Tax Accountant to manage all aspects of sales and use tax reporting, research, and documentation while collaborating with internal teams and external advisors. Based in Irving, Texas, this hybrid role is essential in ensuring accurate tax compliance and supporting the company’s financial integrity.
In this role, you will:
- Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns across multiple states and jurisdictions.
- Review invoices and transactions for use tax applicability and maintain proper documentation.
- Reconcile sales tax liability accounts and support accurate general ledger reporting.
- Research and interpret state and local tax laws while staying current on regulatory changes.
- Assist with sales tax audits, providing documentation and responses to inquiries.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure accurate tax coding and exemption certificate management.
- Manage tax registrations and licensing requirements for new jurisdictions.
- Collaborate with external advisors and auditors as needed.
- Support process improvements and automation initiatives related to tax compliance.
- Maintain accurate tax records in Acumatica and Avalara.
- Educational Foundation: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Experience: 2 years of experience in sales/use tax accounting or general tax compliance.
- Credentials: CPA preferred (or ability to obtain after hire).
- Key Skills: Strong knowledge of multi-state sales tax regulations, proficiency with Excel and Avalara (or similar), familiarity with ERP systems (Acumatica), analytical and organizational skills, and excellent communication abilities.
