What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chief Financial Officer position at The ExeQfind Group?
Chief Financial Officer (Agribusiness / AgTech)
We are managing a search for a Chief Financial Officer in the Fresno area for our client, a rapidly growing PE-backed agribusiness/agtech organization. We are currently limiting the search to the Fresno / San Joaquin Valley region but may be open to considering relocation for candidates outside of this region.
This role will be a key member of the executive leadership team, partnering closely with the CEO and private equity sponsor to scale the organization into a more disciplined, data-driven, and operationally efficient platform. This role has six direct reports.
This will be a true “build and lead” role with responsibility for developing the finance function, improving financial visibility, and implementing the systems, processes, and controls required to support a growing multi-site business with a hybrid model of manufacturing, recurring services, and consumable product sales.
Our client has meaningful excess production capacity which creates an opportunity to drive incremental revenue and margin through third-party contract manufacturing (tolling). The CRO will play a critical role in evaluating, structuring, and financially optimizing these opportunities to improve asset utilization and better absorb fixed overhead.
The CFO will have direct responsibility for accounting, finance, FP&A, cash flow and working capital management, and financial systems. This role requires a hands-on leader who can operate at both a strategic and operational level, driving improved decision-making across pricing, customer profitability, and capital allocation.
Additionally, the CFO will play a central role in supporting M&A activity, including evaluation of add-on acquisitions, financial diligence, integration, and tracking performance against investment theses.
Candidates for this role will have:
- prior experience as a CFO or senior finance leader in a private equity-backed business or similar environment.
- Proven track record building or upgrading finance functions in a growing, operationally complex business.
- Experience in business with elements of manufacturing, distribution, and/or field service models.
- Strong working capital management experience, including inventory and receivables in a product-driven environment.
- Demonstrated ability to partner with commercial teams on pricing, profitability, and growth initiatives.
- Experience supporting M&A, including diligence and post-acquisition integration.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field. CPA and/or MBA is preferred.
