EWAB are looking for a dynamic talented individual to join our project team at EWAB Engineering, Libertyville, IL.
As an automation controls engineer you will have a key role working with customers and colleagues concepting, designing, programming and integrating some of the most innovative conveyor and robot automation currently on the market.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with project managers, mechanical design engineers, and customers to develop a low-risk and robust control design solutions.
- Program all software for unique projects with a variety of needs (PLC, HMI/SCADA, Servo, Robotics, Vision, Laser, etc.)
- Provide improvement and sustaining engineering support for proven standard designs.
- Support and/or perform equipment, process validations, and testing to internal procedures.
- Work with outside vendors to coordinate the build of manufacturing equipment.
- Assist with procurement.
- Assist with resolving issues with suppliers.
- Work closely with our build teams during the assembly phase.
- Debug equipment on our floor and the customer's floor.
- Assist with performing process failure mode effects analyses.
- Work with Operations and outside Vendors to create methods/processes to improve capacities with production.
- Work with management to establish project timelines, project justification, and budget forecasts.
- Must demonstrate responsibility for the quality and financial aspects of the company.
- Pursue and participate in company LEAN initiatives.
Job Requirements
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or related field
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in automation and/or process machinery controls design
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the ability to travel domestically and occasionally internationally, including Mexico up to 15% of the time.
- Must have a valid passport.
Preferred Skills
- Proficient in the design and troubleshooting of complex machine control systems and programs.
- Intermediate skills in PC programming (.NET) (CPP is plus)
- Experience in PLC controls (primarily Allen Bradley CompactLogix/ControlLogix and Siemens S7)
- Knowledge of HMI communications
- Knowledge of communication networks including Profibus, Profinet, InternetIP.
- Knowledge of Vision Inspection & Vision Guided motion (primarily Cognex VisionPro and InSight)
- Experience with EPlan Electrical Design Software
- Basic project management experience.
- Excellent technical skills
- Knowledge of process related standards
- Experience in process simulations is a plus.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations
- Experience in process/equipment validation and documentation is a plus.
- Proficient in MS Office
- Team player but self-managed and motivated.
- Must possess effective and verbal communications skills.
- Must possess good organizational and prioritization skills in order to maintain priorities.
- Must be able to focus on all details and requirements of the end user.
Travel
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the ability to travel domestically and occasionally internationally, including Mexico up to 15% of the time.
Language Skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral are required. English is essential. The ability to speak, and read a foreign language is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, and operating procedures. Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. The ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization is required.
