Position Summary
The Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, differentiated instruction in math and science to students in grades 3–5, supporting both academic and social-emotional development. This role requires a strong understanding of the North Carolina Standard Course of Study, as well as the ability to adapt instruction to meet the needs of neurodiverse learners.
The ideal candidate is a flexible, collaborative educator who can break down complex concepts, foster student engagement, and build strong relationships with students and families.
- Plan and deliver differentiated instruction aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study
- Develop and implement lesson plans that meet diverse academic and learning needs
- Assess student progress through formal and informal measures and adjust instruction accordingly
- Provide clear, constructive feedback to students and maintain ongoing communication with families
- Create a structured, supportive, and engaging classroom environment
- Integrate social-emotional learning, including the Friends and Feelings™ curriculum, into daily instruction
- Support students in developing executive functioning, problem-solving, and self-advocacy skills
- Collaborate with colleagues, specialists, and administrators to support student success
- Utilize technology to enhance instruction and student engagement
- Bachelor’s degree required; teaching certification preferred
- Experience working with neurodiverse learners, including students with ASD or twice-exceptional profiles (preferred)
- Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and student-centered teaching practices
- Demonstrates strong social-emotional competencies, including self-awareness, self-regulation, and relationship skills
- Maintains a calm, composed, and solution-oriented approach in dynamic or challenging situations
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
