Job Overview
Caldwell Early Head Start is seeking a bus driver for transporting families to and from group socializations and providing transportation to other services, as needed. The bus driver ensures the safety, supervision, and well-being of all passengers while maintaining compliance with all transportation policies and safety procedures. A CDL is not required.
Duties
- Safely transport families to and from approved destinations.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and mechanical readiness.
- Follow all traffic laws and safety protocols to maintain a secure environment for passengers and pedestrians.
- Communicate clearly with passengers and staff using effective verbal skills; manage behavior and address passenger needs professionally.
- Assist children, adults, or individuals with disabilities with boarding, seating arrangements, and exiting the vehicle as needed.
- Maintain accurate transportation logs; complete reports related to safety or operational issues promptly.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Report accidents, incidents, and any maintenance concerns immediately to supervisor.
Experience
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities.
- Knowledge of local traffic laws and safety regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 21 years of age
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
- Good driving history.
- Ability to lift 40 libs.
- CDL not required
Pay: $14.05 per hour
