Duties
- Offer peer-led support to individuals experiencing mental health or behavioral health issues, utilizing active listening and motivational interviewing techniques.
- Assist clients in developing personalized recovery plans and connecting them with appropriate community resources.
- Provide crisis intervention and crisis management during urgent situations, ensuring safety and stabilization.
- Document interactions accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems, maintaining confidentiality and compliance with privacy standards.
- Mentor clients through behavioral health challenges, offering encouragement and practical strategies for managing symptoms or addiction issues.
- Collaborate with clinical staff, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care plans and support services.
- Facilitate group activities or workshops aimed at building life skills, resilience, and social connections.
Qualifications
- Lived experience with mental health recovery or behavioral health challenges is highly valued.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and crisis management strategies.
- Experience or training in behavioral health, mental health counseling, addiction counseling, or social work preferred.
- Strong skills in motivational interviewing and peer mentoring.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation purposes.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure while providing empathetic support during crises.
- Excellent communication skills with a positive, energetic attitude aimed at motivating others.
