The Manufacturing Technician II is a hands-on role for individuals with strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitude who are committed to producing high-quality assemblies. In this role, you will install, test, and troubleshoot components and systems on vehicles, trailers, and related products.
You bring a high level of ownership, versatility, and grit, ensuring production goals are met while maintaining strict adherence to safety and quality standards. This position works primarily on the shop floor, supporting vehicle and trailer assembly operations in an environment with moderate noise, moving equipment, and occasional exposure to chemicals or solvents (PPE required).
Key Responsibilities
- Perform intermediate-level mechanical and electrical assembly, installation, and troubleshooting on vehicle and trailer systems (e.g., wiring harnesses, switches, hydraulic components).
- Operate specialized tools and equipment such as pneumatic tools, multimeters, and testing devices with minimal supervision.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and wiring schematics to ensure accurate assembly and functionality.
- Conduct in-process inspections, including torque verification, electrical continuity testing, and component alignment checks.
- Diagnose and resolve assembly issues independently or in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve assembly processes, workstation layout, and material flow.
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen events to drive efficiency, reduce waste, and improve safety.
- Partner with Quality Control to investigate defects and perform basic root cause analysis.
- Train and mentor Manufacturing Technician I team members, reinforcing standard work and best practices.
- Collaborate cross-functionally:
- Provide feedback to Engineering on design-for-manufacturability improvements.
- Work with Supply Chain to resolve part discrepancies and ensure material availability.
- Accurately document work performed, including time tracking, parts usage, and inspection results in ERP or shop-floor systems.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 3–6 years of progressive experience in mechanical and/or electrical assembly, preferably in vehicle or trailer manufacturing.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work instructions
- Working knowledge of mechanical systems and basic electrical systems
- Quality Focus:
- Familiarity with torque specifications, wiring checks, and quality standards (ISO or similar)
- Problem-Solving:
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve moderately complex assembly issues with minimal supervision
- Computer Skills:
- Basic experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office for documentation and tracking
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, and move throughout the shift
- Frequently lift up to 50 lbs
- Regular use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
- Work performed in a manufacturing environment with noise, moving machinery, and potential exposure to chemicals (PPE required)
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Technical certification in mechanical or electrical disciplines preferred
Schedule & Compensation
- Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM; Friday (4-hour shift, as needed)
- Overtime: Available during peak production periods
- Pay Range: $26.00 – $28.00 per hour (based on experience)
Pay: $26.00 - $27.00 per hour
