POSTED ON 8/15/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 9/13/2026
Electrophysiology Technician
Location: Albany, New York
Pay Rate: $71.38 – $73.38 per hour
Position Overview
Our client, an established healthcare organization, is seeking an experienced Electrophysiology Technician for an onsite, 90-day contract engagement in Albany, New York. The role supports a cardiac electrophysiology laboratory performing diagnostic studies, ablations, and device implantation procedures.
This is a specialized, high-skill position for a technologist who is comfortable in a procedural environment and confident with complex cardiac mapping and monitoring equipment. It offers substantial technical challenge alongside a well-established EP team and a clearly defined engagement window.
Key Responsibilities
You will prepare the electrophysiology suite for scheduled procedures, verifying that mapping systems, stimulators, recording equipment, ablation generators, and emergency equipment are functional, calibrated, and ready before each case begins.
During procedures you will operate the recording and stimulation systems, capture and annotate intracardiac electrograms, run programmed stimulation protocols under physician direction, and monitor surface and intracardiac signals continuously, alerting the physician to rhythm changes or concerning findings.
You will support three-dimensional mapping during ablation procedures, assist with catheter management and device programming during implants, and provide scrub or circulating support as assigned, maintaining strict sterile technique throughout.
You will monitor patient hemodynamics and sedation status in coordination with nursing and anesthesia colleagues, respond appropriately to arrhythmias and emergent events, document procedural data accurately, and manage post-procedure equipment cleaning, supply restocking, and inventory tracking.
You will maintain accurate procedural documentation including case logs, device and lead serial number capture, implant registration records, and radiation dose recording, meeting the traceability requirements that apply to implantable cardiac devices. You will also support inventory management for catheters, leads, and generators, tracking consignment stock, expiry dates, and reorder points so that cases are never delayed by a missing component.
Requirements
Prior hands-on experience in a cardiac electrophysiology laboratory is required. Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required at the time of hire.
You must demonstrate confident cardiac rhythm and intracardiac electrogram interpretation, working knowledge of EP recording and stimulation systems, and familiarity with ablation and cardiac device implantation workflows.
Applicable licensure or certification for practice in New York is required, which may include RCES, RCIS, ARRT registration, or state radiologic technology licensure depending on your background. Sterile technique competency, the ability to wear lead for extended procedures, and availability for onsite work including call coverage are essential.
Preferred Qualifications
RCES (Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist) certification is strongly preferred. Experience with three-dimensional mapping platforms and with complex ablation procedures such as atrial fibrillation or ventricular tachycardia is highly valued.
Experience supporting cardiac implantable electronic device procedures, familiarity with multiple device manufacturers' programmers, and prior contract or travel experience in a procedural cardiology setting are all advantageous.
Familiarity with device interrogation and follow-up workflows is valued, along with experience supporting cardioversions, tilt table testing, or loop recorder implants. Prior experience in a cardiac catheterization laboratory, comfort with call rotation coverage, and the ability to work effectively with vendor clinical representatives during cases are all advantageous.
Compensation and Benefits
This engagement pays an hourly rate in the range of $71.38 to $73.38, reflecting the specialized nature of the role and commensurate with experience and certifications held. The assignment runs 90 days with a defined end date.
You will work alongside experienced electrophysiologists and EP staff in a well-equipped laboratory, with exposure to a broad range of diagnostic and interventional procedures. The engagement strengthens a highly marketable specialty skill set, and extension may be available subject to performance and continued need.
This is a contract engagement placed through our recruiting team. We work closely with our contract professionals throughout the assignment, from onboarding and first-week check-ins through to end-of-contract planning, and we actively look for the next opportunity for people who deliver well. Many of our contract placements lead to extensions, repeat assignments, or permanent conversion.
We are an equal opportunity employer.
