Who We Are

Located at the heart of the Edgewater’s outdoor Plaza, The Icehouse is where we see all the action! Serving items such as pizza, nachos, drinks and snacks, we deliver a menu and service that gives our Madison lakeside a unique experience. In addition to serving Madison locals, The Icehouse also caters to guests of our beautiful 4-Star hotel. In the winter the Icehouse staff operate Madison’s only downtown ice rink!

Our bartenders take great pride in delivering exceptional service to their customers directly, as well as preparing drinks for our Icehouse guests. Our bartenders ensure accurate drink preparations, maintain their bar inventory and cleanliness, and operate with a team mentality to support the overall success of the Icehouse team.

An Icehouse Bartender’s responsibilities include assisting in the daily opening, upkeep of the Icehouse Bar. They also assist by ringing in food and drink orders. Additional responsibilities include assisting other Icehouse staff in customer service, food delivery and general care of the Icehouse area. Above all else, Icehouse Bartenders help to provide a safe, courteous, and efficient experience for our customers while they provide these guest services. What You Have

• Previous bartending experience of one (1) year or more in casual or fine-dining settings. Experience in food & beverage service within a hotel/resort setting is a plus.
• The focus to ensure correct order taking and prompt service to multiple tables at a time while allowing guests the freedom to customize orders to their needs. 
• A caring, positive attitude with a genuine interest in ensuring our customers have memorable experiences.
• The ability to physically perform the duties required of a restaurant team member - including carrying food trays, delivering drinks, carrying drinking glasses, plate ware and flatware through kitchen areas, occasionally moving tables and chairs.
• The ability to multi-task and assist multiple guests at a time, including providing information about the Edgewater Hotel’s layout and offerings in other departments.
• Excellent customer service skills with the desire to work in a team environment.
• A self-driven, entrepreneurial attitude towards achieving your goals.
• The ability to work outside and on your feet for most of each shift.

Additional Qualifications

• Must be available for a minimum of three (3) shifts per week and able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
• Demonstrated experience and knowledge of general safety practices.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player attitude.
• Willingness to learn new concepts and ideas.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
• Interact with all levels of customers and hotel management.

Working Conditions

This position operates in a counter-service, professional restaurant environment. Ice Rink Attendants are required to use standard equipment such as point-of-sale computers, cash registers, and are required to work in our kitchen areas, rental shop areas and on the Ice Rink when assisting other team members. This position requires evening/weekend work. 

Physical Abilities

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping and crouching. Must be able to read, write and determine wait time based on Icehouse procedures. Must be able to visually scan the work areas to ensure cleanliness and safety standards are being upheld. The position spends the majority of their scheduled shift outside. The position may require occasional lifting of products weighing up to 50 pounds, shovel ice and snow, and work outside in winter weather conditions.
