As a Host-Hostess/Busser at The Early Owl, you will be the first point of contact for our guests, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Your friendly and professional demeanor, organizational skills, and attention to detail will contribute to providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a smooth dining experience. You will be an essential member of our team, responsible for ensuring a clean and organized dining area and supporting the service staff in delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests. Your attention to detail, efficiency, and teamwork will contribute to the overall success of our restaurant.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Guest Reception: Greet guests with a friendly and welcoming attitude, creating a positive first impression. Manage the waitlist and seat guests promptly, considering their preferences and group size. Communicate wait times clearly and provide accurate information about the restaurant’s offerings.
2. Reservation Management: Coordinate reservations and maintain an organized reservation book or system. Confirm reservations and ensure accurate seating arrangements. Manage any changes or special requests effectively, collaborating with the servers and management team.
3. Communication and Guest Assistance: Maintain clear and professional communication with guests, both in person and over the phone. Provide information about wait times, menu options, and special promotions. Respond to guest inquiries, resolve concerns, and provide assistance as needed.
4. Seating and Table Management: Organize and optimize table seating, taking into account server sections, table availability, and guest preferences. Maintain an awareness of the dining room flow and ensure efficient table turnover. Collaborate with servers and bussers to maintain a clean and organized dining area.
5. Guest Recognition and Special Occasions: Foster a personalized dining experience by recognizing and acknowledging regular guests and special occasions. Coordinate with the management team to handle special requests, celebrations, or VIP guests. Ensure their needs and preferences are accommodated to enhance their dining experience.
6. Coordinating with Servers and Support Staff: Collaborate with servers, bartenders, and support staff to ensure effective communication and a smooth dining experience. Relay important information to the servers, such as large party arrivals or special requests. Assist with seating and table setup as needed.
7. Reservation and Waitlist Management: Utilize a computerized reservation system to manage guest reservations, waitlist, and table availability. Maintain accurate records of guest information, preferences, and special requirements. Ensure adherence to reservation policies and effectively communicate any changes or updates.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience as a Host/Hostess or in a similar customer service role is preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and welcoming demeanor.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills to interact with guests and team members.
- Attention to detail to ensure accurate seating and reservation management.
- Professional appearance and attitude.
- Familiarity with reservation systems and basic computer skills.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Availability: We are currently looking for someone available Friday through Sunday and is okay with working double shifts if necessary. We are hiring a joint Host/Hostess-Busser position where you will be scheduled as either a Host/Hostess or Busser to fit business needs.
