As an Expeditor at The Early Owl, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth flow of service between the kitchen and the dining area. Your attention to detail, strong communication skills, and ability to work under pressure will contribute to the overall efficiency and success of our restaurant.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Order Coordination: Act as the liaison between the kitchen and the front-of-house team, ensuring effective communication and coordination. Receive and review orders from servers, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Prioritize orders based on timing, special requests, and guest preferences.
2. Timing and Efficiency: Monitor the pace of the dining room and kitchen to ensure that orders are prepared and delivered in a timely manner. Collaborate with the kitchen staff to maintain optimal timing for each table, avoiding delays and minimizing wait times for guests.
3. Quality Control: Inspect food orders to ensure accuracy, presentation, and adherence to quality standards. Verify that all necessary condiments, garnishes, and side dishes accompany each order. Address any discrepancies or issues promptly and professionally.
4. Communication: Maintain clear and open lines of communication with the kitchen team, servers, and management. Relay special requests, modifications, and updates effectively to ensure seamless execution. Communicate any delays or issues to the appropriate parties to minimize guest impact.
5. Problem Resolution: Handle guest concerns or complaints regarding orders promptly and courteously. Collaborate with servers, kitchen staff, and management to find suitable solutions and ensure guest satisfaction. Maintain a calm and professional demeanor, even in challenging situations.
6. Organization and Cleanliness: Keep the expediting station clean, organized, and well-stocked with necessary supplies. Ensure that the staging area is maintained properly and that plates and trays are presented neatly and attractively. Adhere to health and safety regulations and encourage others to do the same.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience as an Expeditor or in a similar role in a restaurant or food service establishment is preferred.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills to handle multiple orders and tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent attention to detail to ensure accuracy and quality control.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with both kitchen and front-of-house teams.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and maintain composure.
- Knowledge of food and menu items to accurately verify orders and address guest inquiries.
- Team-oriented mindset with a collaborative and supportive approach.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
