YOUR NEW ROLE AS OUR ENTRY-LEVEL TRANSPORTATION ENGINEER
Starting the day as an Entry-Level Transportation Engineer, you will be assigned specific design tasks to complete under the direction of a project manager. You are now a member of a team responsible for the development of transportation design deliverables. Throughout the day, you will collaborate with experienced engineering staff on various department projects to complete assigned tasks ranging from bridge design to roadway design. By day's end, you've worked on several projects including designing/drafting of bridge components, creating roadway alignments, profiles and cross sections, erosion and sedimentation control design, drainage and stormwater design, and hydrologic and hydraulic modeling to help advance the work of the department.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR OUR ENTRY-LEVEL TRANSPORTATION ENGINEER
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- 0 - 4 years of experience in civil engineering with a background in roadway and/or bridge design (PennDOT and PA Turnpike Commission) and willingness to cross-train.
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certificate or willingness to acquire.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills; preferably while working in a team environment.
- Knowledge of PennDOT design standards, drainage design, stormwater management, erosion and sedimentation pollution control, NPDES permitting. The preferred candidate will also have experience with the design of transportation projects, regulatory permitting, and proficiency in the use of engineering software including, but not limited to, MicroStation InRoads/OpenRoads, and HEC-RAS.
