Property Maintenance Coordinator
The Dwelling Place is a Christ-centered ministry providing healing and hope to victims of domestic abuse through supportive services and a safe, transitional place to call home. The Dwelling Place exists to break the generational cycle of abuse by equipping and empowering women and their children through the love of Jesus so they can experience lasting freedom.
GENERAL STAFF REQUIREMENT:

JOB SUMMARY:
The Property Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and assisting with the maintenance, safety, and upkeep of The Dwelling Place’s five residential properties and one commercial property. This role includes preventive care, routine maintenance and repairs, contractor coordination, volunteer oversight, and support of larger property projects, ensuring all facilities remain safe, welcoming, and well-maintained for residents, staff, and volunteers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Property & Facility Maintenance
- Help create and maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment that aligns with the mission and purpose of The Dwelling Place
- Coordinate and/or perform general maintenance and basic repairs across residential and commercial properties
- Proactively identify maintenance and repair needs and address them in a timely manner
- Assist with resident move-ins and move-outs, including preparing spaces for new residents
- Maintain exterior property safety and appearance, including lawn care and snow removal coordination
- Ensure all maintenance tools and equipment are organized, clean, and in good working order
- Maintain accurate records of ongoing and completed maintenance and repairs
- Assist with inventory tracking of maintenance supplies and material
Coordination & Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact for staff regarding maintenance needs
- Serve as the primary liaison for contractors and vendors; ensure accountability to service agreements
- Coordinate, lead, and communicate with volunteers assisting with maintenance or repair projects
- Communicate regularly with major building project leaders and staff regarding project updates, timelines, and needs
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with city building codes, ordinances, and housing standards
- Serve as on-site contact for housing inspections
- Ensure a female house attendant is present whenever male workers are in resident occupied private living quarters
- Be available to triage rare on-call maintenance emergencies
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 3–5 years of general maintenance experience or demonstrated knowledge (including home ownership experience)
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks
- Strong communication skills; able to interact with staff, residents, volunteers, and vendors in a caring and respectful manner
- Ability to foresee and proactively address maintenance needs
- Familiarity with basic home maintenance tasks (e.g., painting, lawn care, changing filters, hanging items; some training provided)
- Basic knowledge of common household appliances and safe operation of power and hand tools
- Ability to use Microsoft products and electronic communication tools
- Reliable transportation for travel between properties and supply runs
- Ability to meet physical requirements including standing, bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 40 pounds
- Ability to pass a background check
- This position involves working in spaces occupied by women and children who have experienced domestic violence
CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt, 20 hours per week
REPORTS TO: Office Manager
COMPENSATION
- This is a part-time, hourly position paying $21–$26 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. The position will begin at 20 hours per week, with the potential for increased hours as the role evolves and organizational needs grow. Benefits are available to employees working 32 or more hours per week, in accordance with organizational policy.
