- **A Currently Enrolled Student from a Maritime Academy.**
- SUMMARY:**A cadet assists officers of a ship (in) its day-to-day operations.This can include anything from navigating and steering the vessel while underway and while dredging with the direct supervision of the deck officers to doing general maintenance alongside the deck crew. A deck cadet may also be asked to assist Engine Officers with their day-to-day duties.

- Required Credentials: Holds a document as Merchant Mariner issued by the United States Coast Guard. Student from Maritime Academy.

- Reasoning Ability: ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Physical Presence: Regular and predictable physical presence on the ship is an essential qualification for this position due to the importance of the team-related aspects of the essential duties, the aggressive timeframes under which the employee will operate, and the need for face-to-face interaction with manager and crew.
- Ability to work aboard ship for the duration of the cadet shipping sea term as required by the students Academy and 2 paid travel days.
