Role Overview
The Doyle Group is partnering with a client to identify a Sr. Manager, Data Management to lead their enterprise data function — spanning Master Data Management (MDM), Data Quality, and Data Governance. This is a people-leadership and policy-layer role reporting to the Director of Global Data Services, with four direct reports overseeing MDM Operations (SAP S/4HANA & JD Edwards), Data Quality, and the Data Governance COE.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Governance COE
- Define and operate the enterprise data stewardship and ownership model
- Maintain the business glossary, enterprise data definitions, and ownership registry
- Run governance forums, decision rights frameworks, and escalation paths
- Own business metadata completeness in Microsoft Purview / Unity Catalog
- Own data classification taxonomy and RBAC access policy design
- Serve as the policy interface to enterprise InfoSec for compliance and audit readiness
- Master Data Operations & Data Quality
- Oversee MDM workflows across SAP S/4HANA and JD Edwards
- Define enterprise DQ rules and acceptance criteria for analytics products
- Own MDM SLAs as measurable commitments — not aspirational targets
- Produce DQ scorecards and trend reporting for the CDO and business data owners
- Drive reduction of downstream rework caused by MDM defects
- Manage MDM release cycles, change control, and ERP alignment
Qualifications
Required
- 8 years in data management, governance, or MDM in enterprise environments
- Data classification and RBAC access policy design experience
- 3 years leading teams with accountability for governance, quality, or MDM outcomes
- Experience with Microsoft Purview, Unity Catalog, or equivalent catalog platforms
- Enterprise-scale data governance framework experience (stewardship, registries, forums)
- Strong stakeholder management — able to drive accountability without direct authority
- SAP S/4HANA MDM experience strongly preferred; JD Edwards a differentiator
- Bachelor’s degree required; Information Systems, Computer Science, or related preferred
Preferred
Master’s degree or MBA with hands-on data management delivery experience
Finance, Supply Chain, or Commercial data domain experience at enterprise scale
Manufacturing or industrial sector MDM experience
Background in a product-based or federated CDO operating model
DMBOK or CDMP certification
Familiarity with DQ tooling and scorecard development
